- ROOT CANAL THERAPY is the removal of the infected nerve tissue (dental pulp) from inside the tooth’s canals.
- ROOT CANAL RETREATMENT is performed when an endodontically treated tooth fails to heal-or is causing pain-months or even years after successful treatment. A retreatment may also be necessary if decay and bacteria invade a tooth under a loose filling or an ill-fitting crown, causing contamination and failure.
- APICAL SURGERY is the removal of the root tip (and the surrounding infected tissue) of an abscessed tooth. This procedure is done in the rare event that a tooth fails to respond to root canal therapy and root canal retreatment is not a viable option.
